California Legislature Asks: Is What You Smoke at Home Your Boss’s Business? by Christopher Hazlehurst, J.D. | Jul 30, 2021

Coast Employment Law attorney Jon McGrath was recently interviewed for an article discussing a bill in the California legislature that would prohibit an employer from discriminating against an applicant or employee based on a drug screen that tested positive for THC (cannabis/marijuana). Mr. McGrath described the circumstances under which California employers can implement drug testing policies and was also asked to explain some of the difficulties surrounding testing for marijuana and prohibiting marijuana use during work hours.
